For those thinking of getting into kegging beer there is nothing to be intimidated about. A great advantage of kegging is the ability to force carbonate. With bottling you will be waiting at least a week for your beer to naturally carbonate. With kegging, your beer can be ready to drink in an hour.

You can siphon your batch of beer into your keg. Purge all Co2 from keg and pressurize it up to 20psi. Place the keg on its side with the Co2 outlet post on top, this allows maximum contact area so Co2 can be absorbed. Gently rock the keg from side to side, you will actually hear the Co2 flowing through the regulator.

To quickly chill your kegs drop it into a large bucket of water. Once the keg has been cooled by the water pop it into your beer fridge. For those without their own dedicated beer fridge simply add ice or freezer packs to a bucket, only add a few inches of water to the bucket. The beer being dispensed comes from the bottom of the keg so this is where we want to chill. Drop the pressure in your keg to 10psi apply a glass to the beer tap and quench your thirst.
